The ERG Nordics Award is a gala in the online casino industry where the most innovative and successful companies in the Nordic region in online casino are named. In 2021, the award ceremony took place on april 24th and we have found out who won.

As everyone knows, there is still a pandemic going on around the world that imposes restrictions, which meant that the ceremony had to be held digitally.

Two new categories year 2021

Prizes were awarded in 15 different categories, two of which were new for this year. The two new categories were:

The winner in the first new category was Optimove who develops software for customer data and the justification was how they really stepped forward and helped operators to show how they could meet customer needs during the sudden Corona crisis.

The winner in the second new category was Mindway AI, which works to ensure that gambling takes place safely. The motivation for their win was that they are a very innovative company that focuses on the bigger issues and its solutions.

Winners among the other categories in 2021 were most of the large and well-known companies in the industry, which have really shown that they are at the forefront and can combine responsible gambling with entertainment, as online gambling actually can and should be.

Betsson Group – a real winner

As we k an SE in the price list, Betsson Group is a real winner, and won three different prizes, something that of course must feel great as Betsson Group is a real veteran in the industry.

Betsson Group is a subsidiary of Betsson AB that has very long experience in the industry, and it is nice to see that experience still weighs heavily and can take an operator far, despite the fact that many new companies and casinos appear on the market.

Companies that received high praise

There were some companies that received very good praise from the jury, even though it did not quite reach a win in its category.

Among other things, LeoVegas received a lot of praise for their work with mobile casino, which suggests that they are actually perhaps the most important in mobile casino, given that they have previously won several prizes for their mobile casino.

Kindred Group was also awarded in the category "Safer gambling Operator" which shows that they are a serious company, because safe and responsible gambling is among the most important factors in this industry.

2021 jurors

The jury consisted of 13 different members from different companies who somehow have connection and knowledge to the online gambling industry. We could see Alan Alden from Kyte, among others Consultants , Henrik Norsk Hoffman from Nordic Gambling Christina Thakor-Rankin from 1710 Gaming who was also the only female juror.

We would have liked to see that it was a few more female members of the jury, as more and more women actually play at online casino and are strongly represented in the market, and of course it is always fun about the industry matching the market.

Winners 2020

There are plenty of price galas in i-gaming. There are many trade organizations and everyone has their own galas. By tradition, however, EGR Operator Awards number one ! Every October, around 30 winners in various categories are chosen. Categories such as casino of the year and betting site of the year coexist with categories such as employer of the year and Game of the year. This year'S gala – EGR Awards 2020-took place in november and this was done online to be as safe as possible during the pandemic that is going on.

Online casino & operator of the year 2020

At the EGR Gala, the Casino operator of the year is always named. Last year, it was GVC Holdings that took home that title. You may be wondering what GVC Holdings is? The company is gigantic in Europe and other parts of the world, but does not have the same status in New Zealand. Examples of brands within the group are Partypoker, Ladbrokes and Bwin.

However, this year it was Kindred Group that won the title of operator of the year. This title was intended to 888 Casino and Casino Games just as much, but in the end it was Kindred who took home that title thanks to innovation.

Betsson won several awards at the EGR awards

The gaming giant Betsson is a bookmaker that usually takes home the award for best customer support, and so it was in 2020. And it is not only at the EGR gala that Betsson is the one who takes home the title for customer service, but it is something that seems to happen at most other galas as well. However, during the edition of the EGR gala for 2020, they took home more than one prize.

Betsson was also distinguished for RaceBets – their platform for betting on horses, as well as for their mobile platform. Betsson is thus a gaming company that impresses year after year at the EGR Gala thanks to several of its achievements.

Casino games of the year 2020

The game of the year was also named at the EGR Gala, and this time it was several game titles that were mentioned. Both crazy time from Evolution Gaming and Money Train from Relax Gaming were two favorites that received awards. But it was Iron Dog Studios who took home the title of Game of the year with ’Branded Megaways’ which is part of the 1×2 network.
